Jeep Gladiator

A Jeep pickup truck is not just designed to carry the load, it will carry the load anywhere it needs to go. By anywhere, we mean the Twin Ports and deep into the woods!

The all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator marks the return of the pickup truck to one of America’s iconic nameplates. Jeep has been in the pickup truck business since the beginning. Each one built tough enough to be able to get through all terrains and conditions.

One thing is clear about the new Jeep Gladiator: This is more than just a Wrangler with a truck box in the back. It is engineered for the purpose of hauling and towing, along with the built-in, off-road capability that you expect from a Jeep. In fact, the Gladiator is the most capable pickup truck in the midsize class.

Capability – Just Like a Jeep

Before we talk about its legendary off-road capability, we should talk about payload, towing – all the things a pickup truck customer wants to know. It can tow up to 7,650 pounds with a 1,600-pound payload. Both of these numbers are best-in-class.

The new Gladiator has unmatched capability with Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4×4 systems, next-generation Dana axles, new Selec-Trac full-time two-speed transfer case, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, and 33-inch off-road tires. It starts underneath with its industry-leading ground clearance (10.9 inches) and approach (44 degrees), breakover (27.8 degrees) and departure angles (37 degrees).

The Gladiator also offers unmatched crawl ratios with a 2.72:1 crawl ratio standard on Sport and Overland models, and a “4LO” ratio of 4:1 with Tru-Lok locking differentials standard on Rubicon models. Plus, it can ford up to 30 inches of water. The Gladiator’s suspension is now tuned to optimize on-road handling and ride comfort without sacrificing off-road capability.

Design for Purpose

What will surprise even the most hardened Jeep enthusiasts is how modern the design is while staying true to its original DNA. Up front, there is the instantly recognizable keystone-shaped grille that pays homage to Jeep’s original CJ models, flanked by round headlamps and square tail lamps providing that distinctive Jeep character. The new Gladiator is also the only true open-air 4×4 pickup truck with new easy-to-use Sky One-Touch power top, two hardtops, and premium soft top, along with dozens of different door, top, and windshield combinations.

Plus, the Gladiator offers a class-exclusive forward-facing TrailCam Off-Road Camera. This is an innovation that makes the work of getting through tougher terrain easier.

The Gladiator is made with lightweight, high-strength aluminum doors, hinges, hood, fenders, windshield frame, and a magnesium tailgate which all help reduce weight and boost fuel economy.

The Power To Get Through Anything

The all-new Jeep Gladiator will not just feature one engine underneath its aluminum hood — within a year’s time, there will be two ways to power the all-new lightweight and highly-capable icon among pickup trucks.

Here is a rundown of these two engines powering the all-new Jeep Gladiator:

3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine

The tried, tested, and true 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine delivers the same 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque as before. However, this engine now features Engine Stop-Start (ESS) as standard equipment. It is engineered to provide a broad torque band with a focus on low-end torque – an essential trait needed for extreme off-roading.

An all-new, six-speed manual transmission is standard on all Gladiator models equipped with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, and an eight-speed automatic transmission is optional.

This engine has seen its share of conditions and terrain in its day. It’s time for new adventures, now with ESS and the new eight-speed automatic. Not to mention, the venerable six-speed manual transmission.

3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine

Unlike the diesel engine seen on a couple of Jeep and Ram vehicles, this 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine is designed to bring serious low-end torque where it is needed. Gladiator 4-door models will offer the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine, rated at 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque, with Engine Stop-Start (ESS) standard. A new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard and designed to handle the increased torque output.

Starting in 2020, the EcoDiesel V-6 engine will implement new turbocharger technology with a low-friction bearing designed for low-end and transient performance. The upgraded EcoDiesel V-6 engine will now also feature low-friction pistons to improve fuel economy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide an enhanced combustion system – new injector nozzle, piston bowl, and glow plug with an integrated combustion pressure sensor to optimize combustion.

This diesel engine is ready to tackle anything in its way.

A Gladiator For Your Lifestyle

The Gladiator’s interior offers clear information from its screen between the dials in front of the driver. It also offers plenty of controls within fingertip reach, all the way to the console. The Gladiator also comes equipped with the fourth-generation Uconnect system, now with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Depending on model, there are new touchscreens in 5.0-, 7.0-, or 8.4-inch sizes with pinch-and-zoom capability. There are more than 75 available advanced safety and security features in the new Gladiator. You also have the choice of trims: Sport, Sport S, Overland, and Rubicon trims, along with future limited editions.
